The second in our series of activities grant funded events was a lecture by UA History Professor Emeritus, Dr. Roger Nichols, on how several 19th Century artists depicted Native Americans. He showed a series of images from different artists’ work that illustrated diversity of dress and housing, as well as ceremonies and historic events featuring members of different Native Tribes. Dr. Nichols is an Affiliate Member of the UA American Studies Department and in 2020 received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Western History Association. He is a four time Fulbright recipient. The lecture took place in Tucson on April 26, 2023 and was attended by 14, including a Fulbright Visiting Student and a Fulbrighter from Phoenix and her spouse.
